Designing a Sustainable Opera Production: partners meeting

In an age where environmental consciousness is no longer a choice but a necessity, the arts are embracing sustainability with open arms. The Project Butterfly stands at the forefront of this movement, redefining opera production through a lens of eco-consciousness and circularity.

The recent Butterfly meeting, held on May 7th, 2024, illuminated the innovative strategies and collaborative efforts underway to minimise the carbon footprint of opera production.

Led by Thierry Leonardi, a sustainability expert who worked for more than 20 years at the Opera de Lyon as General Delegate first and Sustainability Manager then, the meeting delved into various aspects of sustainability, from eco-design principles to the reemployment of set elements, with a focus on the issue of carbon footprint within the CCIs sector and opera production.

During the meeting, the expert introduced the previous themes with a brilliant presentation, including three examples of eco-design initiatives in the Opera scenario. Join us and learn more about the sustainable strategies unveiled at the Butterfly meeting, towards a greener and more harmonious future for opera production.
