The Butterfly Consortium comprises highly professional organisations and combines actors from opera, sustainability, renewable energy and digital storytelling. These organisations from Italy, Poland, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Austria and Ukraine work together to create a sustainable opera.
The Consortium is led by Teatro Comunale di Modena, one of the leading Italian opera houses engaged in producing opera shows and in co-productions with international festivals and opera theatres. Other opera houses implement the project: Opera Box based in Helsinki and the Baltic Opera House in Gdańsk (Poland), both with the mission of disseminating their cultural heritage through opera productions. The Consortium is joined by Heimspiel, an established agency for digital storytelling formats in Augsburg; AESS, a non-profit association of 163 Italian public authorities, involved in the promotion of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and reduction of energy consumption among Local; and CUMEDIAE, a Brussels based international non-profit agency providing consultancy services in the field of CCIs European wide.
Project Butterfly also has the support of associated partners that are: Comune di Modena, the governing authority of an Italian city located in the Emilia Romagna region; Ars Electronica, an Austrian cultural institution focused on techno-cultural phenomena; GARR, an Italian R&E network providing high-speed connectivity and advanced services to the research and education community in Italy; and Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre, a modern European musical theatre, the only one in this genre in Ukraine.
