Project Butterfly is excited to announce the successful completion of the compeser selection process, marking a milestone for our initiative and inaugurating the way for its next phase.
The Open Call, which concluded at the end of September, attracted several talented artists willing to put themselves on the line and to contribute to our project. Before the actual selection process began, all the proposals were checked for eligibility and only the approved ones were then judged by a first committee, charcterized by artistic experts coming from our Opera partners, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Opera Baltycka, and Opera Box. They reviewed each of the 44 eligible application several times, analysing them in a meticulous way, to then select two artists for each country, Italy, Poland and Finland.
Concluded the first selection process, a second one was put on motion that saw not only the participation of our Opera partners but also a much younger jury, represented by the students from High School Francesco Selmi– Modena, High School no.6, and Otaniemi High School. This new selection process not also contributed to the decision of our composers but also was a huge opportunity to have a younger audience experience and understand better the world of music and Opera, by also having a hand in this initiative to rejuvenate Opera. Students and Opera experts selected together the winner for each respective country.
