From May 28th to May 29th, 2024, Opera Baltycka in Gdańsk hosted the Butterfly Partners Meeting, which brought together the authors, the creative team and the Consortium members of the Project to give life to the opera vision, setting the stage for the following opera production.
During this two-day experience, the Project partners engaged in presentation sessions to discuss ideas to boost environment-friendly practices in theatres and opera production. But first and foremost, the Partners Meeting was the perfect opportunity to implement sustainable practices in the making of the new Opera, which includes immersive and interactive projections, 3D costume design and online rehearsals.
On May 29th, the Project partners and the creative professionals also had the chance to get together in the evocative setting of the European Solidarity Centre to share knowledge about sustainability in theatres and in audience engagement. A focal point of this process is represented by the Audience Development Guide, which investigates the current relationship between Opera’s audiences and sustainability.
Looking forward, the enriching experience of the Partners Meeting in Gdańsk will lay the foundations for the next chapters of the Project Butterfly. Each of the different perspectives and profiles involved actively contributed to enrich the creative process, thus ensuring that all aspects of the opera’s staging are meticulously planned and harmoniously executed.
